New Friday Night Market Event


QVM is introducing a new Friday night market in Therry St. over 8 weeks in October and November. Following are the details provided by Steve Kostopoulos -

Re: Stir Frydays Market Event
The Queen Victoria Market Pty Ltd will be holding an event on Therry Street between Queen Street and Elizabeth Street.
Dates/ Times:
Therry Street will be closed to traffic from 3.00pm till 11.00pm each and every Friday commencing the 9th October till the 27th November 2015, a total of 8 weeks. The street will be closed to enable us to run an event for visitors to enjoy food, drinks and entertainment.
Start Time to finish time of event:
The “Stir Frydays Market Event” will run during the hours of 5.00pm till 9.00pm.
Description of Event:
This event will comprise of approximately 17 traders in allocated positions down the centre of Therry Street and other parts of land of the Market including the Dairy Produce Hall, I Shed and Deli lane. The new ‘Stir Fryday’s Event’ will be a vibrant, curated set of food Trucks and Carts providing;
o An offering to both residents and visitors of Melbourne;
o An alternative to dining at home
o A point of interest to our site and this part of the City Of Melbourne;
o Provide an opportunity for Queen Victoria Market traders and nearby businesses to extend their trading hours.
Some low level music and entertainment performances may occur in Therry Street also during the period.
Market Location:
Therry Street, between Queen Street and Elizabeth Street will be closed at all times for the duration of the event. The Queen Victoria Market has made provisions for deliveries of goods. This includes delivery vehicles entering Therry Street from Elizabeth Street and unloading goods. This will allow vehicles to enter Therry Street, park and turn their vehicles between Elizabeth Street and the start of the Event Zone adjacent to the Dairy Hall (end of McDonalds building). – Approximately 75 metres. This area will be under the supervision of traffic controllers and security officers throughout the entire event.
